REBECCA MOFFITT
Rebecca grew up in Midlothian but currently lives in Fredericksburg, VA. She makes the drive in to Richmond to teach Dance Trance with us because she's hooked. She says it has always been her favorite way to escape the stresses outside the studio; to turn up the music and to reset, to get away from the "have to's" and spend an hour doing what she wants to do.
Rebecca says she's danced since she was five years old, and turned to sports like tennis, swimming and weights when she got into middle and high school. "I was so fascinated by how the body moved and responded to different stretches and strengthening exercises, that for many years I thought I wanted to be a physical therapist or an orthopedic surgeon."
How did you find TURN? "I found Dance Trance from a Groupon back in 2013, and found TURN years later when my daughter spent a summer taking ballet classes in Richmond and Sandi was offering Dance Trance at the same time."
What do you love about TURN? "I love that I can be myself at TURN. No matter your age, size, background, or ability, TURN is a welcoming community united in dance, fitness and friendship. I also love that I always feel better after class. Like an eye exam where the optometrist asks, “Better 1 or better 2?”, after Dance Trance is always “better 2!”
MORE ABOUT REBECCA:
Birthday: June 23
Favorite to do outside of TURN? I love having unscheduled time to hang out with friends and family.
Favorite food or drink? My kids would tell you that salad is my favorite, but if I’m being totally honest, I love baguette with butter and Diet Coke.
Favorite dance move? Body rolls!
Fitness inspiration? Modeling the way for my kids so that they naturally develop healthier habits than I had growing up.
Favorite inspirational quote? “Life is a journey, not a guided tour.” Although perhaps not inspirational, another favorite comes from Will Ferrell as Janet Reno on Saturday Night Live, “I just wanna dance!”
Favorite workout song? I don’t really drink, but I thoroughly enjoy dancing to “Shots”. My favorite playlist includes “Twerk”, “Work From Home” and other songs with lyrics I can sing only at TURN or while driving alone.
